Hair Buddy

I have a ton of headbands, and hair clips that just sit in a boring old box and I wanted to do something fun with them. I took an old washed out lemonade can and covered it with cute and girly scrapbook paper.

On the outside I put some of my headbands around it and then inside I put my clips and hair pieces inside it.

So quick, easy, cheap and cute!

DIY: Yummy Lovely Lips

This past weekend when I was playing in the kitchen + making some fun homemade goodies... I made a sugar lip scrub + some homemade lip balm/gloss...

The lip scrub was very simple... its a mixture of 1/2 tsp of brown sugar, 1/2 tsp of honey, 1/2 tsp of olive oil + a pinch of powdered cinnamon! Mix all of that together + voilĂ ! Dip your finger in the mixture + rub onto your lips in a circular motion for about a minute, then wipe of with a warm damp wash cloth, then apply a mild chapstick/lip balm; to lock in the moisture.

I also made homemade lip balm/gloss which was even EASIER! I melted a cup of Vaseline in the microwave, and then simply added different flavors of powdered Kool-Aid into it. I mixed it up really good + poured it into small jars. (I used little travel cases that you can buy for cheap in a bottle travel pack)
Then I left the caps off so the mixture could firm up a little bit (it took about an hour) Now I have some delicious + moisturizing lip gloss!

The sugar lip scrub made my lips so soft!! + of course I locked in the moisture with my new homemade lip balm!

NOTE: I read that it is not the best idea to use the lip scrub more than once a week, because over exfoliating could possible cause damage to some sensitive skin cells. I plan on using my sugar lip scrub about once a week, maybe twice if I have a special event or something. ;)

Here's to some yummy soft kissable lips!

DIY Beauty: Wake up! Coffee Body Scrub

This body scrub was by far the easiest thing ever!!
First off I gathered my ingredients.... 2 cups ground coffee, 1 cup white sugar, and olive oil. I combined all of the ingredients together in a bowl. (adding the oil in last)

After I felt like all of the olive oil was distributed evenly in the coffee + the sugar, I simply poured the mixture into an old pickle jar that I had cleaned, just waiting for something else to fill it with.
I then added a homemade name label to the jar.

I made quite a bit of this body scrub. I am going to see how long it lasts without molding. My research tells me that it will last a decent while, but I am going to be keeping this jar in the fridge.

REVIEW: so last night when I took a shower, I tried out this scrub.. let me tell you, it is AMAZING! It feels amazing! It smells amazing! It is just great!
James even said that he likes that I smelt like coffee! lol.
The only mistake I made was using this right before I was planning on going to bed.
The caffeine from the coffee soaked into my skin, which in return woke me up! I was wide awake. Which was sort of annoying, but at the same time a good thing because I got a lot of extra organizing done! lol.

Any questions? Feel free to leave a comment! :)

Another producctive Saturday..

When I woke up this morning, I had the urge to deep clean some more. Just like I did last Saturday! I started off by doing dish + laundry of course.. then I got a little carried away. I collected all of my makeup brushes, + soaked them in some cups + bowls full of hot water (just out of the tap) ((see picture below))

As my brushes were soaking, I whipped up some homemade makeup-brush cleaner. I have heard before to soak your brushes in hot water mixed with vinegar, however, that just didn't sound much like a "cleaning" to me. So I mixed up something else.  ((see picture below))

I just used the actual Blue Dawn dish soap bottle.
So anyways, I squirted a little bit of the mixture into the palm of my hand, and then took one brush out of the cups at a time.
I rubbed each brush in a circular motion in the mixture that I poured on my hand. Within the first few swirls, I could see the makeup residue turning my palm different colors. It was sort of gross, but I could tell that it was deep cleaning my brushes! Which made me one happy girl! lol.
When I thought the brushes were clean, I then rinsed them under the faucet in the sink. (luke warm water) I rinsed them until it felt like all of the soap mixture was off. Then I took a clean wash cloth + patted each one dry, then laid them out to dry completely following that.

When I cleaned up my makeup brush mess, I then pulled out all of the needed ingredients for dinner. Corn beef, cabbage + carrots. MMMMMM.
I got that delish meal going in the crockpot then moved onto my next task.

James woke up shortly after me getting dinner started, so we showered + headed out to run some errands.
