Say Goodbye to Messy Dresser Drawers!

One thing in our bedroom that always seems to get unorganized is our dresser drawers. UGH! I just hate dressers, but we need them. If we didn't have them where would our socks and under garments go?! James is PRO-Dresser and I am 99% ANTI-Dresser!

In our bedroom we only have one dresser, and our dresser only has three drawers. My sock, James' socks, and James' boxers. Sweet and Simple.

I folded all of my socks in half for ankle socks and in thirds for longer socks.
Then filled the drawer by standing them up.

I have my sock drawer sorted by thick and fuzzy socks on the left side of the drawer (2 rows) then I have 2 rows of long (tall) socks, then the last 3 rows (far right) are ankle socks. This was technique is not only good for saving space, but also for pushing me to throw some socks away.

No match? THROW IT AWAY! Teeny Tiny hole?! THROW IT AWAY!

So, as I just said.. I organized my sock drawer and I got rid of some socks that I just really didn't need anymore. SCORE!

For James' sock drawer, I did the very same thing folding wise.
However, guys socks are different and his are much bigger than mine, so they take up more room! The far left side are all of his ankle socks (folded in half and standing up) and then because his long socks are A LOT longer than mine, I laid the matching sets on top of one another. (Only folded in half instead of thirds)

Now for James' boxers...
Hot Dog. Hot Dog. Hamburger.
Does anyone remember that folding rule from elementary school?!
Here are some sample pictures I just found on Google. haha!

Hot Dog                                     Hamburger

I folded each one in half hot dog style, then in half again (hot dog style) then I folded them once Hamburger style. I filled the drawer by stacking them standing up just like I did for our sock drawers.I sorted his boxers by matching the types of fabric together (soft cotton, silk, stiff cotton, flannel)

Our dresser drawers are now 100% organized and lookin' good!
Now the real challenge is to see how long they stay organized and lookin' good!
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!

Pack Up Your Christmas Stuff Fast + Easy! (OH! + Cheap too!)

As much as I love Christmas + all of the fun decorations... the wreaths, the mini village on our stairs, the tree, lights and many many ornaments... I also get to a point after New Years where I just can't wait to get our house back to being itself and put all of the Christmas clutter away.

Last week I went to Big Lots and purchased 4 of these "It's a Keeper" Ornament storage boxes. Let me tell you these little things are $8 life savers! Yes I said only $8!

I know that may sound like a lot for what it looks like, however, I fit ALL of our Christmas tree ornaments in ONE of these. I wrapped up our little glass village and other mini fragile decorations into another one of these. Then I used the 2 left over ones for mini trees, pillows, Christmas blankets, lights, and anything else I had left laying around.

I then labeled each one with the contents and into storage they went! Then I picked up our Christmas Tree over my shoulder and tossed it into the backyard. I love the look, smell and spirit that a Christmas Tree brings, however I am so sick and tired of the needles thinking that they can move in with us and take over our house!

These things don't look like much, I know... but believe you me.... I am extremely happy with these bad boys. Made my Christmas organization so much easier than what I have done in the past.

Say goodbye to random Tupperware that have funny shapes and only hold certain things.
I love how these are cloth and flexible, they form into our storage spaces and bend, stretch and collapse if they are not completely full! SCORE!

Lost Clicker Problem? Solved!

I always get so annoyed when I get into bed at night and I cant find either of the clickers!
I kept telling myself that there has to be a way to keep track of them at all times, and now I have it!

I used the Velcro 3M tabs (one on the back of the clicker and the other on the wall)

 EASY AS THAT!

So easy and hey, it doesn't look that bad, right?!

These Boots Were Made For Walkin'

I decided to organize my closet the other day.
It was a complete mess and my shoes and boots were just piled on top of one another all over the place. I emptied the entire closet and cleaned it out, then put everything back one by one. I also threw away A TON of shoes and clothes. But when it came to putting my books back in, they all kept falling over. I remembered reading somewhere about using magazines to help them stand up straight. Since I have a ton of magazines just laying around, not being used, I decided to give it a try. IT WORKS PERFECTLY!!

I mean sure it looks kinds goofy, but hey it works
At least it is good to know that magazines are good for something, after they are read of course!

Organizing The Upstairs Bathroom

So, last weekend I spent my entire Saturday deep cleaning the house. I did a ton of laundry, threw out a lot of garbage, and even got to check off a few things from my 213 things to do in 2013 list!!

#78 was to organize our upstairs bathroom 100% (with before + after pictures)

so here are some pictures.....
here is my make-up vanity before + after.. James was amazing on how clean + organized I got everything!! He was proud too!

^ Here is a picture of the nasty laundry pile chilling in the bathroom that I got rid of.

^ here is the clean + organized toilet corner! With some shelves that I am in love with!

^ Here is our upstairs bathroom linen closet before + after.. I know that it doesn't look like a HUGE difference, but trust me... IT IS! lol.

I even took the time to organize + sort through all of my make-up! I threw all of the old, expired, + broken make-up away... then carefully organized the remains! It is so much nicer to have everything organized!

I get ready in the upstairs bathroom every single day, so the new organization makes it a lot easier!
