Tea Lights - Baby Shower Favor

"Light this candle, on the night
Once the stork has made his flight.
With a flicker of the flame,
Please say a prayer in Sweetpea's name."
For part of the baby shower gifts we will be giving each person a little baggy with a few items in it. One of those items will be a small tea light candle, with a tag attached that says the short poem that I started this post with.

I wanted to make the tea lights a little more fun, girly and cute.
So I took different pink washi tapes that I had, and cut them to size.
I wrapped each tea light (whew I wrapped 100!) and I really think it made them a little more fun for the favor bags.

This quick, easy and cheap DIY was just that. It was very quick, it took me less than 1 minute per tea light. It was easy, all I had to do was measure, cut and wrap. It was also cheap, the candles were from Walmart but you can buy them from the Dollar Tree as well. The washi tape was off brand and from the Dollar Tree, and that is all you need my friends!

If you make your own version of these fun tea lights, please share a picture of them in the comments below, or tag them on Instagram using #CreatingVirginiaAnne

I would love to see your creations!

DIY Upcycled Garden Owl

The supplies I used for this are:
- 1 pie tin
- 2 aluminum can lids
- 2 spaghetti sauce jar lids
- 2 bottle caps
- 2 square bolts and nuts
- jewelry wire
- 2 smaller twigs
- 1 long twig
- 1 piece of bark
- E6000 glue
- drill
- my very handsome husband for the use of the tools

For this project. All I did was lay out the jar tops and lids where I wanted them to go. I had James drill the pieces, then I used the nuts and bolts to connect them all together. I then used the E6000 glue to attach the twigs for the eyebrows as well as the tree bark for the beak. After letting the glue dry for a few hours, I made a loop to hang by on the top hole of the pie tin, and I used jewelry wire to attache the long twig to the bottom two holes. I also tried to make the bottom wires look somewhat like feet or claws. It really was that easy! and very quick too! oh and cheep! The only thing I had to buy was a pie tin from the Dollar Tree!

Yay for cheap and cute upcycled DIY projects!

I will be giving this to my mom and dad inside their Easter basket this year. I just know they will love it for their garden!

DIY ~ Family Silhouette Plaques

I love our little family.

This is such an easy craft and it is great because as our family grows, I can easily add to it!

  Here is what you need:

1. printed pictures from a side view
2. wooden plaques or wood of some sort
3. colored paint (for plaque color)
4. black paint (for silhouettes)
{ or a bold color would look fun too! }
5. scissors
6. matte Modge Podge

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

  Here is what I did...

1. Bought wooded plaques
2. Took pictures of each of us
3. Printed the pictures
4. Painted the plaques silver (2 coats)
5. While those were drying, I took my time and cut out each picture
6. I painted each cut out picture
7. When those dried I used matte Modge Podge and put one solid coat on the entire plaque, then before it dried I very gently centered each picture on its own plaque!
8. I very lightly brushed a coat of the matte Modge Podge over the picture and the rest of the plaque.
9. I let it dry!

tah-dah!! It was so simple and it turned out great!

I am planning on making a few more as gifts... what a great gift idea!
( however, I will use pictures of the people I am gifting of course! )

Here are a couple of extra photographs of the ones I did of us!

Reinbeer

This has to be one of my most favorite Christmas time crafts that I have ever done! It was very quick, easy and somewhat cheap!

I made "REINBEER" for my Dad, my brothers (Jeff + Dan), James and also for James' dad. But since James and his dad don't drink beer I used bottled IBC cream soda! HA!

I went to Meijers and bought 5 6-packs of beer (2 of cream soda) and I used brown pipe cleaners, mini red pompoms and mini googly eyes. (I bought all of those supplies at Hobby Lobby)

This project is so simple. All you do is use a hot glue gun, and glue on the eyes and nose. Then I cut some of the brown pipe cleaners into thirds and used those pieces for the top of the antlers. Then I just twisted the set of antlers around the mouth of the bottle (just below the bottle cap) and TAH-DAH!!!
Now you have little adorable REINBEER ☺

Snowflake Wreath

My mom had a ton of foam snowflakes in a bag that she used for a backdrop at a Santa party and she was like "Ray, can you do anything with these?" haha. I looked at her and said "are you serious!? OF COURSE I CAN!

She wanted something flat and fun for their front door, and yet she wanted it to be simple as well.

I came home and plugged in my hot glue gun, and within 5 minutes I was crafting away!
I made a very easy and simple snowflake wreath for her front door. It took me about 10 minutes, and she loves it! It looks amazing on her forest green front door, and it blends in so well with all of their other Christmas decorations!

The picture really doesn't do it much justice, because it looks extremely flat, but in person it does have some 3D-ness to it! and glitter! (they are glittery snowflakes from dollartree!)

The best part is my mom and dad like it and they are happy, and a good part for me? I still have left over snowflakes to craft with!  ☺

What a Hoot!

Over the past few months, everywhere I go there are owls. Well, I have become obsessed with them! (almost as much as sock monkeys!)
almost. ;)
I saw this wine opener at CVS today, and I couldn't help but buy it! We aren't exactly huge wine drinkers in this house, but hey, at least we will have an adorable can opener to open the bottles with! haha. wow. how lame does that sound! Hey its still cute.

Just Couldn't Say No

You know how when you go shopping sometimes, when you are standing at the register getting cashed out, the cashier starts offering good deals to you... usually I say no, however, at Dots, I just couldn't say no. These were 3 for $1.00!! And look at the fun sparkly colors!

I am already obsessed and you bet as soon as I got home I tested them out!

So Pretty!

I am a big collector of nail polish... as you can tell, between yesterday and today! ha!
